The hubby and I at New Years. Before WW

Back in February of this year I was 187 pounds and fed up with my scale moving the wrong way. I had tried a few different weight loss plans, but there were always restrictions, which discouraged me after a couple weeks and I ended up quitting all of them.  Feeling frustrated and ready to launch my scale, on Family Day i decided to join Weight Watchers Canada. I had seen the commercials that said you could eat real food so I decided what the heck. Let’s give it a try for six months. The next day on February 20, I attended my first meeting. This may have been one of the smartest decisions I have ever made for my health.

I loved the meeting. Our group leader Debbie is a great lady, down to earth and a fabulous motivator. The people that attend the Weight Watchers classes are wonderful and supportive and just like everyone.. we all need that added support and accountability.  Now you may have remembered that one of my favorite things after people is food. The idea that I had no limitations as to what I could eat, but I had to make some choices as to what I really wanted to eat to be successful. It is like a numbers game really and I love number games. 🙂

End of April 20 pounds lost

When I told my husband Bill I joined Weight Watchers, at first he gave me the “why do you want to do that, you can do it on your own” lecture. In his defense, I have often spent money on an idea I had and quit after a couple weeks and years ago I did go ahead and lose 30 pounds. Even though he didn’t understand my reason at the time, he supported me from the start. By the beginning of May I was down 20 pounds and into a pair of dress pants that I had in my closet for 10 years and could never fit into before!

So fast forward to now, (June 7) I am almost half way to my goal of 137 pounds. Losing 24 pounds is pretty cool. Lots of things have changed for me. I no longer need my blood pressure water pills. I can walk 10K steps in a day easily and do this at least 5 days a week. There are tons of non scale victories and am excited to see what else is in store. This week I began a Weight training program that I hope will tighten the loose soft spots. 😉

On the program I have so much fun eating great meals and am sharing many of my recipes and ideas on this site. I still eat what I love.. and sometimes I splurge and have something delicious that is a bit high on points.. and yes even go all out and enjoy a couple beers or glass of wine once in a while. 🙂 That is the beauty of the program. Nothing is really off the menu. It is up to me how fast or slow I want to reach my personal goals.

If you are interested in the program, I have an invite a friend link below. If you join because of my influence, we both get a free month! Just let me know. 🙂 If you live in the area of Hamilton Ontario and want to attend a meeting with me first, contact me and you can come out as my guest.
